ELISA RICHARDS
Elisa Richards is a costume designer based in Charlotte, NC. She earned a B.F.A. in costume design from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and began her career in costume shops for renowned opera companies, including The Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Opera Theatre of St. Louis. While in New York City, she served as a costume shopper for The Metropolitan Opera, designed numerous theater productions, and designed costumes for a production of Carmen at Tri-Cities Opera. She also spent two years as a dresser for Broadway’s Mary Poppins. Transitioning into the film industry, Ms. Richards held numerous titles from costume buyer, to costume supervisor. Now in the film industry, Ms. Richards works as an assistant costume designer with credits including Creed III, Home Team,Mile 22, The Devil All the Time, Scary Movie 5, and The Walking Dead. She also coordinates custom builds for films and shows like Creed II, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Legacies.
Ms. Richards offers engaging Costume Design workshops for purchase, tailored for high school theater students. These interactive sessions teach the process of designing costumes for opera, theater, film, and TV through hands-on activities and a clear overview of costume design. The workshops spark creativity and provide skills to create vibrant, story-driven costumes that bring characters to life.
